Default Found boost leak; need help with part

Hi all,

I've got a 2001 A4 1.8t QM AWM engine

This is my first time posting, but you all have answered so many of my questions already. Today I have a more specific issue though. I've been suspecting a boost leak for a little while now. It wasn't anything serious, just a little bit of a loss of acceleration. Now it's becoming slightly more noticeable and I started to fish around to see if I could find it. Lo and behold, after 10 minutes of looking I found the hole. It is at the bottom of the intercooler, and it looks like its a plastic part actually attached to the metal intercooler. I took some pictures of it, which I have attached.

My major questions are: Is this piece easily replaceable? Would I have to replace the whole intercooler? Can anyone tell me what this piece is called, or help me locate a spare part? Any help is appreciated, this is my daily driver, so I'd like to get this resolved asap.

That part is your intercooler. You could try & clean it up & 2 part epoxy it.
I don't think that tiny hole would give you a significant loss of power though. It would probably give you a check engine light with p017? fault codes.

I very much doubt you'd be able to buy the end tank separately from the whole intercooler. I'm with him^ though, I would try to epoxy it before I'd shell out the (considerable amount of) cash for a new core.

Okay thanks for the replies. I was planning on taking some sort off epoxy to it at some point to plug it up, I just didn't know if that was something I could just replace or not. It hasn't thrown any CEL's yet, and I guess its not too bad of a power loss, its just something I'm starting to hear more and more when the window is down.

Cheers
