Default Found Out My Tensioner Broke!

I just had my timing belt replaced by a shop, and a day later my tensioner breaks and they take responsibility for it. Now this happened while i was driving and the car turned off and would not start at the time. The car is going to get repaired, but I want to make sure it gets done right. Will I need a new engine? If so, how will the shop likely go about doing so? Will they get a brand new 1.8T or will they get a used one? I really don't want a used one because mine was running fine and is the 180 hp version ('01 a4). If they don't need to get a new engine but need to repair the valves or anything along those lines, what should I make sure is done so that the engine will be just as reliable and in as good of working order as it was before this whole mess? All of you have been very helpful since I joined the family a few months ago so I hope you can give me some advise!

since it happened while driving you most likely bent some valves and need the head rebuilt. you dont need a whole engine. and you have the 170hp version not 180

just make sure that they check everything out if it did get hit because so many things could be screwed up from that happening.

Like chaos said, they will have to do a compression test to see if they need to pull the head to fix the problem.
