i was low on gas so i went to pump my gas
and this thing woulnd't open for some reason
so i look inside thru the tiny gap
and i see this little silver round rod lookin like thingy caught in between
this black rubber piece
i forced it open finally and i heard something crack ... plastic crackin (thinkin it dosn't matter much)
i realized that on the left side of gas pumping frame? there is a little hole and thats wehre the
round metal rod maybe 1/8" thick .. i pulled it out and i just pushed it back in to the hole

what is this ? anybody with an idea?
can it be a problem if i pusehd it all the way in ???

 

when you lock the doors, it locks the gas door too, protecting your gas cap from theft.

 

lol that sucks you didnt realize that before pulling it apart.

 

the first day i had my a4 i was low on gas and stopped to fill it up... i looked for the pop button for like 15 minutes before figuring out how to just push the door open.

 

lol thats great, i did the exact same thing, but then i remembered that cars generally do come with an owners manual.

open your gas door and lock your doors you can watch how the little thing shoots out to lock it

 

or not, now that you forced it. Lol

 

It's pnuematicly actuated. you can't break it by forcing it.
Unless you are forcing it sideways.
