there's a lot of windy roads around where I go to school, I was able to drive my sedan at 22.5" ground to fender with cheap coils comfortably down them going ~60mph. with my stock suspension 27" ground to fender avant, going 45mph isn't as comfortable. both quattro. fwd cars I've been in can barely go 30 comfortably. I miss spirited low driving in my car that doesn't drive any more the stress on the control arms ftl though

well i also have a bad cv joint and wheel bearing as well... and its screaming at me now that i lowered it more... so ima go up a lil bit more.. id rather have the car live longer then look uber cool lol

hit up NAPA or autozone for a new axle instead of replacing the cv joint. Make sure you replace the big bolt from the outside, too.

ooh ok haha... is there like a codder pic (however u spell it) holding the bolt in? do u know the size the bolt is off hand? or would kragen or autozone or whoever know?
oooh and u do know im fwd right... its the front diver side

It normally comes in a kit with the axle. depending on your year you will need to find a big *** 14mm allen (they come in 1/2" drive) or I think it's a 17mm 6pt (normal). That bolt is torqued to like 1million ft/lbs, so make sure you use the right size and get lots of leverage.

The front axle bolt is a 17mm Allen bolt and the torque is huge - bring your muscles. It's 130 ft-lbs plus a 180 turn. If you buy an axle rather than rebuilt the joint (which is very easy to do), don't buy an Empi-brand axle. They were having problems mismanufacturing them. They were about 1/2" too short which stretched the joints and blew them out in 5-20 miles (search my old posts for info on this). Rebuild is more money but it's ftw.
