Default Hello, new member contemplating 2001 1.8T 5-speed...

Hello,

I'm originally a member of ClubLexus, and also currently drive a fatty Lexus GS400...

but as things go, the ridiculous get-up-and-go of the 400 hasn't been to healthy to my wallet or my DMV record, and I'm currently eye-ing a 2001 A4 1.8T with less than 50K on the odometer.

Coming from a Lexus owner, and a forum full of them, there are some concerns as to the reliability to the vehicle, and I'm wondering what are the things that I should be looking out for.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Welcome!
You don't have much to worry about at that mileage at all. Control arms have been the most notorious for the B5's and coil packs. Go for it.

It does seem that way from the sparse reading that I've done on the B5 A4.

Now I just gotta sell the Lexus real quick!

Welcome to the forums capt4inslow!

From my personal experience with the car, I have had no particular problem with my B5.
I think as long as you keep up with the regular and recommended maintenances, your car should be a breeze and a plasure to own.

By the way, since you're from SoCal come out to the local GTG's! If you're interested in checking out the Audis up close or have any more questions, we're actually having a GTG this Sunday. You're more than welcomed to come out!
