help
i have a 2000 a4 1.8 t quattro........ there a loud noise in my engine. my sister said that it sounds just like her mirage. for her car it was the lifters. does audi's have lifters i been told other things?? if so does anyone know how much those thing run for like at a repair shop???
If it's lifters, it's a bundle - requires at least partial head disassembly, plus all the required parts. If they pull the head, might as well do a full timing belt service while you're in there and get that out of the way, since the t-belt has to come off to remove the head. Still, I'd have it checked out by someone who knows cars and don't just go on your sister's recommendation of what it might be. There's probably an independent euro shop within striking distance of you that you could go to - they'll have better prices than a dealership.
i found one euro place i could take my car too. they only work on german cars. i think that would be a good place to take it. it would have to be towed, that sucks..........it might be the timming chain i have no clue andi never replaced it. the noise the car makes, ok you know when u were a kid or someone you knew, and u put a baseball card or someone in the spokes of your wheels to make it sound like a motorcycle. thats the noise its makes. its runs but it seems like its slacking on power. like once i release the gas it jerks back a littttttttttttle bit not major nothing really big. just a little ugh.

Okay, maybe it's not that bad, but you want to make sure you have someone inspect it before you buy unnecessary parts.
i forgot somethings. just so u guys know. the oil light things comes on the dash, also i got a leak in the raditor lines. i gotta get that fix to. that one is easy its just a hose. after they have to get the heads off its right there on top. just remove the madifod
What's a madifod? Also, if you're getting a low oil pressure light, or a low oil level light, make sure you don't drive your car. Seafoam will usually help low oil pressure, whereas changing your oil will fix the... well, I don't even have to finish that.
