Default Help with 99 A4 2.8 Quattro not starting

my 99.5 Audi A4 Quattro cranks but doesnt start first i thought it was the fuel pump but the fuel pump is good cuz the lines have fuel pressure, im not getting a spark from the spark plus wires. unless im not checking it properly and my crankshaft sensor has a resistance of less than 1000. How should i check i if my coil packs are good and is my crank shaft sensor gone if it is gone would it do this? thanks is advance

to test for spark just put an old spark plug on the end of the wire and lean the metal of the spark plug up against some metal on the engine. if you see spark when you crank it then you have spark. i dont know off the top of my head what the crank sensor resistance should be but there is a link to download the service manual in the modification & maintenance sticky at the top of the forum.

you only need 3 things to start an engine- fuel spark and compression. if you are positive you are getting fuel and spark, theres only one other thing to look at.

how new are the spark plugs? you might as well change them out while you are at it if they are worn. why are you looking at the crank sensor in the first place? did you get a CEL for it? if you did then you probably should replace it.

the crank sensor picks up teeth on the trigger wheel underneath it thru magnetic induction. the resistance is variable and constantly changing so its going to be hard to measure with the car off.

i had just recently gotten a CEL for secondary air injection so i dont know if i was getting a cel for crank sensor, if not the crank sensor what else could it be.
