ok guys so after i cleared the codes and drove it for a while i got the maf sensor is bad code again, and the tranny had a code that said error message from ecu, so im guessing my maf sensor is bad and its causing the tranny to go into limp mode, can anyone confirm this for me i would really appreciate it but im almost positive that this is what the problem is, because when my check engine turned on the tranny went into limp mode right away...

Category:Fault Codes - Ross-Tech Wiki
This is the website where you can look up all the numbers, and decipher what they mean.
00532 - Ross-Tech Wiki
18265/P1857/006231 - Ross-Tech Wiki
00526 - Ross-Tech Wiki
Those are all your transmission code links. The 18265 code is the one that is troublesome. It says check ECU for stored fault codes. So I would agree that your MAF might actually be causing your transmission to jump into safe mode. The transmission is only receiving that code when your engine is throwing a fault code at the ECU, and it has to be a specific code at that. That's my two sense man. Anyone with better input feel free to chime in. Your logic is sound though.

Thanks for this write up, I'm having a similar issue, however, my problem was that the car wouldn't stay running unless the rpm was over 1000. I changed the MAF and threw on a short ram intake, and now it won't run if I get over 1000 rpm (atx 98 2.8 A6).

I have a P1857 error from ECU and I'm also getting a "MAF Signal low" code as well.

Could I have gotten a bad new MAF sensor?
