Default HID question...Searc = no help

Ok, to start this off, I did a search for HID install help but nothing there could help me out.

Here is my question. I recently got a HID kit but I got 2 sets of bulbs. I got D2S and I also got H7 bulbs. Now my question is which ones go into my car? I have a 99.5 A4. Some places I read that it's the D2S and some places said that it's H7. As far as the place where I bought my lights from the thing says that A4 lowbeams have D2S and high beams have H7, but it doesn't say what model A4.

So now I'm confused as hell. I have 2 sets of bulbs sitting at home and I have no clue what goes where. Also, if there is a link to step by step install of HID kits that would be awesome. Also, if someone finds this topic in search then please give me a link so no one has to waste their time aswering my question.

Thanks in advance. Help will be much appreciated.

Audi A4(all of them)use HIGH andLOW beams use H7 factory bulbs.

If you have a kit with ballasts and all, you will install the kit in the LOW beam projector.

Here is a guide.

Should be H7 bulbs.

Here's a writeup that may be helpful:

Do the bulbs look different? I thought that D2S just designated an H7 bulb that was designed for projectors?

Thanks a lot guys. Especially for the install guides. Just one more thing. What's the relay wire in the visionbulbs HID guide? My kit didn't come with any relay kit, it's just a straight forward plug-n-play install.

As for the bulbs. Well they don't look different, but they have different connectors. So that's what threw me off may be. But I'll go ahead and try to install the kit in a few days. Thanks.

I don't know what guide you're talking about, but ignore that part...like you said, it's plug-n-play.

What he means is that some cars require an igniter relay that is kind of like a subharness. It installs in the system such that flipping on the headlights triggers a relay to fire the ballasts. The Audi does not require it. And you're right about D2S - all that is, is a now-defunct designation for an HID bulb intended for a projector light (D2R was for a reflector housing). It's a nonissue now since they don't do D2R anymore - D2S works fine in a reflector. I wish they'd stop using the D2S reference lol - I'm sick of always having it come up and confuse people.

I know, that's the set-up I had in my Subaru. I just didn't know what guide he's using.

Edit: But now I do.

Yeah, I figured you knew. The explanation was more for him and anyone else who might be wondering after reading such a guide.
