Just got a 2000 A4 with a 1.8t auto, she has 154k and is in pretty good shape. Glad to see they can handle the miles fairly well.

I just hit 191k, not nearly as high as some of you. Just replaced front rotors and brake pads, need to do rear. Replaced one CV axel need to do the other. Clutch put in about 20k ago. Turbo went out so I replaced it with a bolt-on k04. Runs like a dream but I am worried about upping the boost because the engine has that many miles. Havent changed anything since the new turbo but I did put a bleed on the wastegate to allow 10 psi of boost. Is it safe to increase boost? Any suggestions on maintenance to keep engine mechanically sound?

Default 420,000 Kms AHA B5

I drive a 98 2.8 Quattro daily. 420,000 kms. About 260,000 miles. Engine, clutch, trans all original as far as I know. Still pulls great and has been through 15 Canadian winters with no rust.

260K and original clutch? That makes me feel good. My "young" 210K car has the original clutch and I've been expecting it to crap out on me.

If it was bought in spring 1998 or later, then that's 16 winters. If it was bought near the end of 1997, then that's 17 winters.

Yes, I counted that out using my fingers

Mine's got all kinds of rust cancer on 3 body panels after just 13 Vermont/Quebec winters (left fender, hood, hatch). I really wish it was rust-free.

My original clutch has been "due" since 220k miles, but at 255k miles, it's still holding on.

Another update: 276,000 miles with the original head gasket on the original engine and the original clutch. I drive it hard almost every day.

Engine is getting tired though. Rings are worn, valve guides are leaky and the turbo doesn't spool up like it used to. I'll be replacing the engine altogether in the next month or two with a new engine I built from the ground up. Guess I'll have fun rebuilding this one once it's out.

1997 Audi a4 1.8t couple hundred away from 200k. Bought with a broken trans...so the only big stuff is the transmission clutch and flywheel being replaced. But there has been lots of little stuff...still for 5k including the new clutch/trans/flywheel It's never left me stranded in 8 years
