how does the ABS senors in the front work
No. The brake pad wear sensors are what sets off the idiot light on the dash for you to get your brakes fixed. The ABS wheel speed sensors send info to your ABS module about the speed at which your wheels are turning which it uses to decide whether or not to engage the ABS. The reason there are different part numbers for cars with and without pad wear sensors (and I assume the reason you're asking) is that the pig tails for both sensors are shrink wrapped together. If you don't have pad wear sensors, you obviously don't need the connectors for them.
Thank you,
I changed caliper on front drivers side, and after that a red ! started flashing, And I can only assume I must somehow have ruined a sensor, but the brake pad warning should not set off the red flashing ! ?

For starters, I would double check that you plugged everything back in and that there aren't any wires pinched or cut. The brake pad wear sensor will set off a light that looks like this:

If you pinched, cut, or left unplugged any of the wheel speed sensor connections, it would likely make your ABS light come on.

Yes I recognize the brake pad wear sensor warning, will double check as you suggested, I didn't leave anything unplugged but maybe something got damaged, will do a scan asap also, the only electronic connection to the caliper that I can see is the brake pad wear sensor , ?

Thanks
Yes, but the problem is that the sensors can be very difficult to remove. Many people end up damaging them when they try to remove them. IMO your best bet is to try to pull the axle and tap the ABS sensor our from the inside after soaking it in PB blaster.
