autotouchup.com has said rattle cans just prep nuts out of it it fades though.
I painted my side skirts with it 2yrs ago and they looked like ***. But if you prep it properly it will look ok..

Yep. Clean it well, give it a couple coats of adhesion promoter, a few coats of primer, then color coat and clearcoat. Then wetsand and buff.

Incidentally, that's a lot of work. Factor in that you're buying paint, reducer, filters, clearcoat, and god knows what else from a paint guy, plus paying him for the work and for his knowledge and skill, and that $100 charge is pretty reasonable...
