How much would a decent sound system run me?
head unit - 100-200
speakers - 300-500
amp - 200
wires - 70
install - DIY is best but if you arn't comfy with it best buy is 200 but will most likely **** something up unless there is a real professional there doing it
its easy enough to do yourself i just put finished all my speakers took about 4 hours with teh head unit and amp wire running add another 1-2 hours. its worht the time to make sure you do it right and the way you want.
also all 4 speakers need a custom mount. you can order these or make them i made a bracket for the front with 5.25" speakers and a 1" tweeter and in the back cut up the old speakers for a mount with 6.5" and a 1" tweeter.

depends on what you want your sound system to do. i put in an alpine HU, 1 12" polk audio sub a 760 watt amp and wires which came out to be around 350 bucks. did it myself which was very easy with a wiring harness since everything is color coded. i think it sounds amazing even with factory non bose speakers. i enjoy it alot
Yay on alpine mine just came it's gong in tomorrow they are the ****. You should really do all 4 speakers I went from stocks to 4 components it is night and day in sound quality. Hos the bass in the Audie I haven't added subs yet I used too have 2 12's in my old chevy and that **** was loud. Is one enough for shakin bass In the Audi?
i kept mine stock, with my pioneer 3200dvd HU and the bass is wicked so i decided to wait on a system, the speakers all work perfectly so i felt no need to upgrade.
i love strong bass and usually add a system to my car, and i may eventually when ive done most everything else to my car. but for now i think it sounds way good for stock(non-bose) system. the HU made a world of difference.
i say start with that and figure out what you wanna do and which direction you wanna go with it.

You can spend anywhere up to $10,000 or more for some crazy system if you want. What do you have in there now, I'm assuming its stock, is it the Bose system or not and what are you looking for out of your new system? There are so many different ways to go, you can keep the stock head unit and get an adapter to connect it to an aftermarket amp and speakers or you can get a new aftermarket head unit. New speakers always are a big help, do you want subs, too?
