Default How to run 0 awg for my amp?

Hey guys,

So I have a run of 0 awg wire I need to run from my battery to the trunk for my amp. I took a gander under the hood and on the driver side in the car and I am having some trouble finding a good spot to run this wire...

The only spot that I found that I may be able to use is the grommet behind the ECU, but even that I couldnt find inside.

What is a good spot to run some pretty big *** wire through?

Thanks

haha 0 gauge huh, trying to rattle the car to pieces i take it. Well you have to actually wire it directly to the battery if you are really gonna draw that much current. Wires that already run into the car are much smaller. I would drill a big hole in the ecu box and silicon it shut if it were me. I have heard that extremely high current near the ecu can interfere with it, i dont know if thats true. What do you mean you cant find it, you did take off the knee panel right, the wire might be getting stuck up there when you run it through, shine a light and youll see it.

There's a chance of that happening - a wire that big, if you truly need one that big, will have a magnetic field around it and may mess with things if the ECU is sensitive.

Yeah I wont be running this through the ECU box...

Is the best spot to run wire through that grommet behind the ECU box?

Where does that pop out inside? How exactly do I remove all that plastic **** under the steering wheel?

You could always find a smaller hole and drill it out... or just drill a new hole.

For my current setup 0 awg is not "needed", I could get away with 4 awg... but I plan on changing the system over the summer so I will need the 0 awg then.

When you say behind the battery do you mean literally behind it or just off to the side? I saw one off to the side in some guides but my car doesnt seem to have it. If there is one BEHIND the battery I will take a look.

The amp is an MRP-M1000, 1000W Rms. Like I said 0 awg is not needed but I'll probably be getting a sundown saz-1500d or 2000d in the near future.

Inside the rain tray I ran my 4 gauge wire through the top circle in the picture. I was still able to cut a hole through the grommet and use it to seal out moisture. I don't know if you will be able to fit 0 gauge and still use the grommet. You'll just have to try. I used a coat hanger to fish it down into the foot well then fished it down the drive shaft tunnel under the center console and carpet, under the rear seat and then into the trunk. I love coat hanger. My favorite tool.
