Default I found out how to fix my ICM forever!!

So after reading many stories of people having trouble with their icm causing misfires I was devastated when my cel came on with random misfires. So instead of either paying to replace the icm, or deleting the icm and putting in new coils I decided to try something I've never heard of anyone trying before.

I have a background of fixing computers/xboxs for some extra money, I learned many things through doing this but one thing I learned helped me fix my icm (2k miles later and the cel hasn't returned). For those of you that don't know, the icm has a heat sink inside the stock airbox, the icm is screwed done to the heat sink with a thermal paste in between the two, basically what I decided to try is to remove all the old paste and put on new artic silver 5 which Is a higher quality paste originally on there. Thermal paste breaks down over time when introduced to the conditions inside the engine bay (extreme heat, moisture, etc.).

It cost around $10 and less then 10 minutes. If anybody is interested I can write up how do it (I would also recommend this as a preventive measure)

This is awesome! Probably won't be a universal fix, but new thermal paste can do wonders to reduce core temps in lap tops and game consoles, makes sense that it would work for ICM's too. Great idea!

You're right that it won't be a universal fix but hopefully it will save atleast a few people from spending $150+ on icm delete or $75+ for a new icm

This might work pretty well if you catch the problem early, before the heat does any permanent damage. I've got some thermal paste left over from my last PC build. Might have to migrate it to the garage just in case.

Normally if it is already broken then it will stay broken, but as a preventive measure it should save some people

Hm. Mine is fine now so maybe I'll go ahead and put new paste on it to make sure it stays that way, then.
