Hello everybody,
well i have had my 98 a4 for 4 years, and sad to say, but must've spent at least 7000$on repairs. Now recently, my tansmission, when it comes to 3rd gear the car vibrates, i feel it in the pedal. Then after the rpm goes beyond 3 and then gets to the 4rth gear, this also happens when switching to the 5th gear. Any clues wuts up with the vibration. Is it transmission. Thanks

 

Could be the transmission, but there's also a chance it's a faulty transmission mount (not sure exactly why that would be the case, since you only feel it in the upper gears though). Still, go under and take a look at the trans mounts and see if any appear to be leaking, cracked, brittle, or worn, and start with those (they're a hell of a lot cheaper than a new transmission). It's worth a shot.

 

Hey, how many miles are on the car? Is it a auto with triptronic shift? If so have you ever see the gear display light up all at once? (meaning all the gear on the console are highlighted) Jesse
