IACV or a vacuum problem?
Hello all, I did a search for IACV, and I think that is my problem, but I wanted a second opinion.
I have a 97 Audi A4 2.8Q with 155k miles on it. I have had it for over a year, and maybe 6 or 7 times (not often at all), for no reason, it would just die (if it was at idle) or when the rpm's drop (like coming off of a highway ramp and you push the clutch in before you come to a complete stop), the rpm drops right to 0 with not even a hesitation at 800 rpm, almost like I turned the key off. But, as soon as I started her up again, she will hold a normal idle. But I didn't think it was possible to have an "intermittent" vacuum leak, so I think the culprit might be my IACV. But as of recently, my idle will not hold any more, except when bone cold. Even when cold, I push in the clutch and it drops to 100 rpm before it rebounds (probably from the extra idle speed given at a cold start) then floats to a normal rpm, like a vacuum leak issue. But as soon as it gets any bit warm, the car dies. Also, if I give it a bit of throttle before it dies out, the car will hold an idle. Does this sound like vacuum problem or an IACV? And again, this just started happening on Saturday all of the time, after I let it warm up because it's getting damn cold in NY!
Thanks,
Brian
