Default idk if this is right.......

I have a 1997 A4 1.8t fwd 5 speed and for mods i have a straight pipe exhaust, a home made CAI, some E3 spark plugs, and lowered with tien S-tech...the car weighs 3050 with the driver...so recently i went to awe tuning and got the chip done and i was told i should run atleast low 15's in the quarter mile.....so i went to the track and my best run was a 15.99 at 85 mph. does this sound right? i was really hopin for the 15 flat......is there any other affordable mods that i could do in the mean time? thanks

Sounds like you need to work on your clutch work.

Yes, your probably not shifting fast enough or launching at the right rpms.

what is a good way to figure out if my clutch is slipping? if it isnt what rpm should i launch at? and should i put my stock airbok on or keep the CAI? nd would it be worth it if i invested in a short throw shifter?

if you clutch was slipping, you would know. The rpms would increase as you go no where. Try launching at ~3k since you are fwd. Intake doesnt matter. A short throw couldnt hurt, you can get an ebay one that is good quality for cheap

Yep - it's a good place to start. You'll need to experiment to come up with the right technique for your car. What works for me may not work for you - different tires, track prep, suspension condition, etc all weigh into the results.
