Question I'm stumped

Ok so here is the situation, my radio doesn't work. My cd play and tape player work fine, but the radio doesn't then a weird thing happened, it started working. So naturally I got excited about a Christmas miracle l, it was short lived, after I got to my destination and restarted the car, nothing. This is where the weird part of it comes in, I have read online that it could be an antenna short, but that doesn't seem right to me for one reason: When my climate control display is working (left side lights up and you can see the numbers, right side you can see the fan, vs. just a red light on the left side and nothing on the right side) the radio works. So before I go out pulling my radio and antenna I have to believe the two are intertwined somewhere, and I was hoping someone could tell me if there is and where, also my radio gets all the information on songs and everything, you just can't hear it, thanks for the help!

Turns out I do not believe they are related since my climate control was working today and my radio was not, sounds like a short to me, what do you guys think?

It's probably the head unit itself. ECS tuning had them for sale for cheap awhile back(I had to replace mine last year) but I haven't seen them there recently. You may have to look on eBay.
