Default inside door handle paint peeling

first of all i have a 1998 audi a4 quattro. i don't know a whole lot about these cars its my first one. on the interior the door handles, or 'oh ****" bars have the peeling coating on them and i would like to take those off and resurface them and repaint them. i was wondering if anyone knows about a writeup of how to remove them without breaking anything? i removed the 1 visible screw to remove a plastic ring thing which then exposed 2 more screws that i removed. but after that the piece didnt seem like it wanted to come off, or maybe i was pulling in the wrong place but i lifted it up a tiny bit and looked under there to see if anything was holding it in and noticed its beginning to get a crack from me pulling on it. so before i break it i figure i'd ask if anyone on here has taken them off and done the same. if you want me to put up pics of the panel i will take some.

thanks alot

Default RE: inside door handle paint peeling

the two screws you found are actually holding the door panel on....or atleast part of the door panel. i have the same problem on my 01 A4...i read some where that rubbing alcohol takes off the plastic paint.....try checking out audiDIY.com or DIYaudi.com....its one of those...
