none, you'll more than likely lose hp due to the pressure drop. You don't need a core that big with a turbo the size of your pinky nail. You'd be better off investing in a water/meth kit while using the stocker IC.

you can push your stock turbo to its power production limits way before your intake air temps stop you from pushing it furthur.

so the answer to your question is probably between 0 and 5. not that cooler air doesnt help, which it would, and you would gain 1-2psi from getting rid of the restrictive stock SMIC, you would eliminate heatsoak so you could run harder for longer, but your stock turbo is the limiting factor in terms of horsepower production.

I seriously, highly, and emensely doubt that there will be any gained pressure. The smic is not very restrictive with the stock turbo. A chipped k03 might boost ~20psi, but the volume is still pretty low compared to a BT. When people upgrade to a fmic with the k03, they usually notice a slight pressure drop. I would never in a million years suggest using any fmic with the stock turbo. They are just for looks at that point. Depends on the core size though. Def not a greddy w/ stock turbo though. I don't think a slight decrease in IAT is worth the lost power in pressure decrease from the use of a larger core than necessary.

after i finaly got my setup working, i went with 2" piping to the IC then 2.5 to the TB, i didnt touch my MBC, on the same settings i normaly get a solid 18psi over 3kRPMs and i definately didnt notice anything drop. boost might be late by 50-100rpms because it has more volume to fill but the k03 is keeping up.

the main thing i like is the cooling efficiency over the stock SMIC. 1 or 2 hard runs on the highway and your IATs are crazy high. i have never gotten my FMIC temp to be more then a few degrees over outside air temp.

do you need i giant fmic on a stock turbo? probably not. i only did it for the 2871r in the near future. im getting supporting mods out of the way first. i have not noticed anything negative about running this setup on a stock turbo though. if i took it to a dyno i may have gained/lost a few HP here or there, but my *** dyno cant tell, and boost isnt any different, just much much colder.

if your not going BT do you need this mod? no. your money is probably spent better somewhere else. but i have not had this negativly affect my car.... cant wait for my turbo

go with an ebay IC with 2" piping all around. you won't lose any significant amount of boost but it will def cool much better than the smic
