is your stock SMIC still in good shape? Are you looking to replace it with an OEM SMIC or a front mount? Any other mods? If you're going to the trouble of replacing it, you may as well upgrade to a front mount. You don't necessarily need one designed for the B5 but if you go universal you're going to have to be careful. Size-wise, you're not going to be able to fit a front mount behind the bumper without some (possibly significant) trimming. I'd also stay away from generic eBay stuff, they're known to be junk. try ECS or a part out, i seem to recall seeing a couple for sale just last week

well like you said, fitting the thing under the bumper becomes less of a problem with the RS4-style bumper, so now it's going to depend largely on your power goals and price range. Two examples from ECS tuning:

They also sell more here:

But those are over-priced IMO. Like I said, you could also try eBay, something like this:

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=B5+....c0.m270.l1313

But from what I've read, the build quality on the real cheap ones leaves much to be desired, and the rest are priced comparably with what you'd find on other sites.

all intercoolers are universal. you need to look for one that fits in the location you want, and that will give you the look you want. Ebay intercoolers are fine unless your going to run big number.

The first question should be, what type of power are you looking to make.

From there you can choose a kit that includes a FMIC that is made for that power level.

A good kit for the A4 with a K03, K04 or a stage 3 kit would be the Racetec kit. If your going Elim kit or up to a GT30r size turbo the better choice would be the ER comp. Both of these kits are bolt on. You can go with a universal kit, but expact to do some work making the IC pipes fit perfectly.

If you just want to upgrade to a better SMIC, there is the Apikol kit which you can also get from www.ringer-racing.com
