Issues that started after repair
Hi Guys,
My partner has a 1996 Audi A4 (B5 – 2.6V6) and recently its been a bit of a pain!
I have some q's about some repairs we had done – mainly as the a/c compressor seized and required repair – as that was being done we had the oil service done, and then they told us the front pads needed replacing (+ and machining of course)
So the total bill was 2k
-$790 for the compressor
-$160 FDR AUDI 2.6 ----> i have no idea what this is!
-$56 for the refridgerant
-$100 for 5 litres of oil (I could have got Mobil 1 for $59!)
And just a few other things – ie brakes etc that werent too bad
A week later the ignition broke (was on its way out anyway (orginal design was flawed)) and we took it back to get it sorted for $100
Since she has had the car back we have noticed some issues with it..
1. A/C is not cold – buttons etc not working correctly (like the plug is loose – its not)
2. Idle is much higher than usual
3. Car stalls on start up (its auto, and never done it b4)
4. When braking, car jolts to stop
5. The trip computer resets when car is turned off
Now, none of these things occured before the repair, so we took the car back and they had a look... this is what they told me, and what im seeking clarification on..
(numbers relate to list above)
1. A/C Control panel needs replacing – its blowing hot & cold air at same time, they say not thier fault and want ~$300
2. Idle Solenoid is sticking – again, they say not related to thier work, needs replacing – no idea of $
3. Related to 2
4. Usual ABS behaviour, possibly related to 2
5. Issue with instrument cluster – not related to thier work (only started after ignition barrel replaced) – they say possibly attributable to immobiliser
Now, im willing to live with it if its unrelated, but it just seems so coincidental to me that these issues have only started after we got the car back
Anyone have any ideas?
thanks
