**** after 6 months its back on road.
drove it home from shop last night. about 30-40minute ride with no side skirts no hood or rear bumper.=)
ill tell you what 2.8l breaths oh so well with no hood. crazy wind noises above 80mph.
and the straight pipes sound glorious.
found out when i got home hood i bought this winter wasnt a 98 hood. i thought it looked a little light and it is the early silver not 98 ly7w f$ck. it happens i guess ill get a full respray in next year or so wish it could be sooner. sunk my budget into g2 setup (4 said silver b5) and other things for car.
but i did new cold air set up with cda (carbon dynamics airbox) and its real cold air. have ducting ran to dummy foglight opening on passenger side. good and car doesnt see rain so no worries on that.
but it was a great ride. 40 degrees rollin all 4 windows down.

 

LY7W is facelift silver (99.5 and up). 99 and earlier is LY7M silver. Is that what you meant?

 

maybe.. im not a paint guy my car is ly7m hood is something light . i took it off a trade in 97 a4 at dealership i am currently employed . car(the trade in) had a bad carfax and had been resprayed in 2004. figuring hood should match i swapped my vented hood (i say "vented" mildly bad night with a cutoff tool) on and grabbed this one. trade in a4 was getting crushed by wholesaler and he let me swap for 50 bucks.
didnt think twice about it till i put hood on last night like 930
i guess when it was resprayed they didnt use audi paint or like you said facelift ly7w.
i was so close to getting it right
