Default just bought it... no compression

This is my first audi and as with all cars my luck sucks. Two days after I bought my 00 a4 1.8t awd it began overheating. I checked the fluid and learned someone had added the good old green stuff to the g12 coolant resulting in the famous brown goop. So I proceded to flush it a couple times and have been driving it with some flush additive in it to break up what was left. After this everything seemed to be fine, no more overheating. Then today it got real fun. I noticed it was steaming a bit under the hood in town so I popped the hood and it had a small hole in the upper rad line spraying a fine spray on the block. I wasn't far from home so I thought I would just keep filling it and watch my temps and get it home. 1 mile from the house my oil temp skyrockets and I start getting a flashing oil can in the display. As I come rolling into the drive it starts to pec misfires a couple times and dies. It barely had any oil showing on the stick and previously it hadn't been using any. I put a new hose on, filled it with oil and water, and tried to start it. Just turns over. So I did a comp test.. 1-30, 2-0, 3-0, 4-40. I pulled the valve cover and nothing looks abnormal. Both cams are turning and the belt looks fine.... no teeth missing and dry. Where did the oil go??? Where did the compression go???

Your 2 and 3 cylinders aren't indexed properly. I bet the compression on those two are similar to the others (which is pretty low btw). And you're saying that oil isn't getting to the head?

Sounds like head gasket to me. That really sucks man I know exactly how you feel. Mine blew up two days after I bought it too.

In hindsight, I agree with these guys on the head gasket. Misfires, overheating, and low compression are a pretty dead giveaway, not to mention milky coolant. Last night when I read this I took it as if you were doing a leakdown test for some reason, and maybe you werent rotating your crank to close the valves off, (because cylinder 2 and 3 hit TDC at the same time.)

Earlier i had a chance to pour a couple capfulls of oil in the #1 cylinder and comp test it and it jumped to over 220psi... Just my first thought but sounds like burnt rings???

Not really "burnt" rings but it is possible the rings got way too hot and lost all their tension. This would (obviously) cause low/no compression and also all the oil loss. Hopefully nothing else got damaged. If you decide to rering, also replace the water pump. If it got that hot, the plastic impeller may be loose on the shaft or even coming apart.

220 is very high. To go from 30 to 220 just by adding a little oil doesn't seem possible. In my experience I have seen increases of 50 to 70psi by adding oil but never anything near 200. The factory specs for a new engine is 130 to 203 psi. Something else seems to be going on. Do you know anybody with an inspection camera?

I'm agreeing on the head gasket too - possibly a cooling jacket rupture in the gasket between cylinders 2 and 3 and an oil jacket rupture as well...
