Thats a pretty big muffler, if you are worried about drone from removing the resonator, just have them weld in a cheap resonator in its place (glass pack basically) which is a straight thru muffler with a small chamber to reduce resonance. It would still be pretty quiet with that monster muffler. Most after market resonators would be considered "high performance"

Its easy to test at the shop, have them cutt out the resonator and tack in a pipe. Take it for a drive, if the noise at highway speeds is too high for you, go back and have them cut out the pipe and throw in the pack $70.

Yeah, and the stock one is a tank too. Most aftermarket mufflers is half the length of that, could be the picture too. There are a lot of different designes of mufflers though, which impact sound greatly, it really is a science. Some are very short and are suprisingly quiet, others are long and sound like *****. Straight thru mufflers with a large chamber usually is what you want with a turbo car, (2.8 doesn't really matter) and the larger the chamber the deeper the tone. So if you removed the resonator and thats a straight thru muffler it should sound fine.
