Question K04 Turbo upgrade vs K03 built

hi i have a 2000 s4 b5 and my motor locked up. I'm putting a new motor in it and I'm looking to make the car faster so i am wondering if i should do a k04 upgrade or just build my k03?

Depends on your power goal. If you want stock power get the k03's rebuilt. If you want more then go bigger

ko3s and ko4 are like the same amount of money might as well go for the ko4 for the extra 10-20hp

Well my new engine already has rebuilt k03 turbos on it I'd I front mount blow off valve 3" exhaust and a 11lbs flywheel and stage 2 clutch boost controller and tune how much power u think I can make out of them

The same or a little more than you'd make on K03s, since you can only do what your stock furling system can handle, enhanced by the extra efficiency of your mods. You should shitcan the blowoff valves though, and put that purged air to use. It'll keep you from fouling the cats from the rich spikes you're getting on your shifts.

Agreed on the closed loop system. DV's are the way to go with the S4, look into the 710N's. If you're not looking to upgrade the fueling system stick with k03's and get a stage 1 chip.

Ok so does anyone know what the best chip for your money is? We're can I find the best DV and can make over 300hp on the k03 setup?

Most of the upgrades are pretty comparable in terms of power gain. From what I know, the typical chip gain (with upgraded DVs to hold the boost) is a bump up from 250hp/275tq to 320hp/365tq.

As for DVs, pretty much any piston-type valve is fine. Forge makes good ones, Dahlback, APR/AWE, etc. Also, check out Krautoparts for the ones Emil sells. They're interchangeable-spring design, include three springs for different pressures, and hold upward of 30psi. Plus the cost is excellent. Several guys on here have bought them and I have yet to hear a bad report.

This came up before

A Flash is when the software is updated through the obd connecter. It's just like a system update on your laptop or computer

A Chip would be if you mailed out your ECU to a tuning company where they would actually solder on some microchip and capacitors to the circuit board in your ecu.

They both pretty much do the same thing. What i suggest, and what many others suggest as well, is to go with a company that is local to you. This way, you don't have to ship out your ECU initially, and if something is wrong with the software, you can take it right back to the tuner shop. If your car isnt a DD, i guess it doesnt matter. My car is flashed from a local APR dealer, it's all warrantied by them, so if something software related ***** up, i can take it right back to them
