Key just spins when i try to lock it?

Key works now!

Same here. Just bought a 2001 Audi Quatro A4 2.8 Same issue, now the door won't open all the way from the outside pull either. Will remove and take to locksmith (4 blocks away) see what he can do.
Sprayed light oil (Engage) in the lock and shortly thereafter it "caught". Now the key works flawlessly. Never had anything apart. Even worked when battery went dead (another story) at -27 F.
