Default Knock in engine.

Okay I have a knock in the engine. It is coming from the drive side of the motor and sounds like its on the back side of the motor. Any ideas on what it could be and would it be worth tearing the engine down to find it?

History of car.

Changed belt at 100k.
Tensioner failed causing belt to slip.
Valves on driver side where shot. Passenger some how perfectly fine.
replaced valves, pressure tested and everything checked out.
assembled and been there ever since.

If you have a four cylinder, then you must be referring to the intake valves (drivers side). If its a six cylinder, the issue applies to only the drivers side head. Either way, you said you replaced the valves and tensioner after the tensioner failed.

If the head was rebuilt recently, give it some time to break in. Assuming you had it done properly, I would say it just needs to break in.

On the other hand, if you have broken the motor in already, well than I am clueless. Perhaps top brass on the forum can guide you better.

It it's coming from the back of the engine on the driver's side on a V6, that would be the chain and the tensioner. Is it an aftermarket tensioner you put in? The 'knock' would be the chain hitting the cover.....but that would mean the chain is loose, meaning the tensioner is not working...

I Haven't put many miles on it since I changed everything. Maybe 5k but it should be getting close to breaking in I would think.

I will take the cover and take a look if it is the chain hitting the cover but I don't think it is.
