Default leak?

Ok so my valve cover gasket was leaking so.I went ahead and replaced it over the weekend and drove it around no leaks or smell however this morning I noticed a bit of oil by the nuts on the cover and a slight oil smell in the cabin wen I was sitting still at a light I checked the nuts to see if they were tightened properly and they were any ideas on why it would be leaking?

What brand of gasket did you use, and what did you torque the VC nuts to?

Audi B5 A4 Quattro V6 30v > Maintenance > Engine > Gaskets > ES#259936 Valve Cover Gasket Set - Priced Each - 078198025 this is what i got just the passenger side was in need of replacing and i didnt do the actual torque i kno its 7 ft-lbs but i just tightened them till they were a bit past snug ill check the torque on it later im kinda worried about breaking them since i have never used my torque wrench before and its from harbor freight
