Default Left and right blinkers, will only blink 2-3 times.

I just got my 2001 A4 B5 ( Audina ) back from my Auto body guy.

I noticed, when i flip the blinker to turn left or right, the flashers only blinks twice or three times, then shut off, while they're in the blinker position.

The same thing, happens on the right and left blinker.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I left the right blinker,in the far right position,as i forgot it was to the far right, then all of a sudden,it started to blink.

When i press the hazard light,it works fine, does this mean, the relay could still be the issue?

I've seen a few posts about people's lights, not working all of a sudden,it was said that it was the hazard relay switch, right?

What do i have to do to get my blinkers to work, consistently like before?

hazard relay as you have seen from other post would be culprit 99% of the time. search the web and the forum for repairing/replacing it.

cheers!

my autobody guy, just drilled holes in the back of my headlight housings,so the hid lights can go threw them and i can fasten the back cover of the head lights,so no water or debris can get into the housing and damage the HId bulbs.

My question to you guys is,could there have been, something he did to cause my blinking problem? I never had this happen his issue, beore i dropped it off,the blinkers worked, perfect.

The blinkers and flasher, connections, are not held in the headlights but in the hazard, switch in the dash, correct? if so,what he did,had to bearing on my new issue with the blinking not blinking, steady?

Thank you fellas....

hazard relay still stands as the culprit. If your mechanic messed up any of the wiring (pinching it) on the blinkers, then your hazards wouldnt light the blinkers at all.

There are 2 small relays in the hazard switch. One for the hazard, one for the turn signals. Overtime the relay starts to lose contact, or even sometimes stick, which would keep the turn signal to just stay on.

$35 on ECS tuning.

I think it might be a coincidence.

The blinker has nothing to do with the low beam. Perhaps check the wires and see if anything is touching each other.

You'll need a very thin and narrow file to get to the contacts. It may last for a week, a month, or even a year. I haven't replaced mine. I just blink it myself by toggling with the switch. After a while it starts to work as it should. I typically go through the problem with the relay in between seasons.

You might ask how to remove it. You'll need to remove the trim around it. There are 3 clips on the top and 3 clips at the bottom. Spaced out evenly, 1 being in the middle. You can use a bent butterknife to pry it out. Clips do break off here and there.

Removing it is a PITA, so is putting it back. To save you the headache, I would just replace it with a new one.

As kript says, its probably just a coincidence.

Yeah,I've taken off that Hazard bezel, many times,so i know the drill.

I am also beginning to think it was a coinky dink. I will try to repair it,if it doesn't work, then i'll buy another one, what do i have to lose?

Thanks for your suggestions fellas.

Regardless how it works out, I have half a dozen of them in the garage. If you want to just replace it, I'll give you one at the meet.
