I replaced my blubs, checked the wires, fuses, and everything else involved! My lights will not work! And I KEEP getting pulled over for no lit up license plates! has anyone dealt with this problem before? or know how to fix it!?

I WOULD LOVE SOME HELP!!!

clean the sockets? mine were so corroded that they weren't making a good connection... i used some sandpaper and scratched them up and they've been working again for 6 months. if you know the socket is getting power (use a meter), you could just wire them to the tail lights independently.

I repaired mine not too long ago. I pulled out the trunk lid liner and found the sockets corroded and fused together. I soldered in a new wire and has been working since.

The trunk lights in my old B5 did the same thing as vgo's. They were so corroded they stopped working. I ended up replacing the housings cause I didn't feel like dealing with it lol.

As CCA4 suggested, you replace the housing/set because it is a lot less of a hassle. You can get them from ECStuning.com BUT they are always on back order =(

Everytime I order something from ECS, the price doubles when it crosses customs so I try to refrain from ordering there now.

A simple voltmeter test would help answer your question. You should have at least 12 volts & a good ground at the light sockets. If it is found that there is no power at the sockets i would check the wiring where they go from the trunk to the body of the vehicle. They have a tendency to break from years of bending from the trunk opening & closing.

I don't think polarity matters if its your regular filament bulb. It will matter if its LED.

The issue with mine was the wire connections on the back of the housing. They were rotted badly and one wire had broken away. The metal was so bad that I couldn't even solder to it. I found the whole setup on a parts car - housings, lenses, body-color shell that contains everything - for $3. Took it home and swapped the whole thing out. Works great.

I agree with the guys above - replace the housings. It doesn't take long and is a lot less crap to deal with.
