Default Low end power

So I've finally got money to start modding and my car has a little hesitation off the line and then thanks to the turbo lag don't really feel much until about 2500-3000 RPM's.
What do you guys suggest for some at least semi noticeable low end power gains?

i would say first off get a boost guage, and check all your vac hoses.... the k03 has almost no lag..... i have and 01 as well and had apr tuning and that thing screamed for about 150 whp...... that being said, if you want more power, do a turbo swap, but you will need to get supporting mods

but like i said get a boost guage, it will let you know what your boost is, and if it is no more than 5 psi then you are in limp mode, but it sounds more like a bad vac leak, i had a "surge" feeling and it was a vac leak....

now if you are a manual tranny car, i sold my apr to a guy and he is not happy with it cause he can't figure out how to recode the trans code and wants to get rid of it

Unfortunately i dont have nearly enough for a bigger turbo and everything else I'd need with that. Boost gauge is almost definitely the first thing I'll be getting, just not sure where i want to mount it yet.
I definitely do feel that "surge" though, not looking forward to replacing those vac lines but I'll let you know if that helps.

Are you saying you have an APR ECU for sale? I'm a stock manual.

He has to recode the "soft code" to the same code that was in his stock ecu using the vagcom.

Meloman - if your not chipped then that is where you want to start. This will give you a nice gain in low end tq since the chip bumps up the boost level from 11-12psi to 18-21psi depending on the chip.
