Lowering springs on stock shocks

i want to know if its a bad idea to put lowering springs on stock shocks

according to auditech79 on here, he's never seen a blown stock shock. from personally experience, i know a guy with a b5 passat with neuspeed race springs for 4 months so far and no problems.

I'd consider this to be cheap, I say go for it and it they get ruined you will just have to buy some nice shocks which you were going to do in the 1st place. If you do it yourself use a spring compressor!

Just to be safe think about a set of OEM S4 struts. They're beefier than yours are and may fare better yet Especially for rebound control.

I've had no problems using stock sport shocks.

I would think they would be good upto about 1.5-1.75" drop. After that I would change as you are getting out of the 'ride' zone of the shock.
