misfires with .032 but no misfires with.028 gap

had the car about 4 months now and had the misfire issue on 1 ,2 and 3 gapping the plugs to the factory spec of .032 misfires like crazy with a gap of .028 little to no misfires any idea's why im pretty sure i don't have a chip but i don't know what the owners before me did

If it works, don't worry about it... stick with the .028. Not sure if you're chipped, get a boost gauge. Normal, 8-10 PSI, chipped 15 PSI and up.

yeah i just put in a vdo gauge it peaks at 10 and drops to like 8 or so psi's

Year? It sounds like you may have a weak spark.

It could be a sign of your coil packs starting to go bad...

Agreed. Are you getting codes for anything other than misfires?

I bought a set of plugs recently and at the autoparts store and they said that .028 is supposed to be recommended for stock 1.8T's. I had the same problem you had but I realized that my old plugs were at ~ .034. I just went ahead and set the new ones at .025 because I wanted to make sure the annoying misfires would go away completely.

Don't use .025. It's doing your car a disservice.
