Default Misfire's

I have a 98, with the 2.8. Last Sept I was getting the codes for misfire in 2 & 4. Replaced the coil pack, wires and plugs. I'm getting the misfires again in 2 & 4 after about 5,000 miles. What could be going on?

Look for oil leaks from the valve cover gaskets. You didn't say whether you've changed plugs either. BKR7EKUP plugs are $3 each at Advance Auto - gap them to .032" and see how things run. Long shot possibility would be injector problems but that's doubtful. Check the grounds on top of the valve covers too - clean/sand/refresh those too, just because.

Changed plugs and wires also, but I gapped them to .060 as the book said to. I will re-do to .032. I did replace a valve cover gasket last year.

Yeah the book is wrong - first time I did plugs, I went with .060 and it wouldn't even start. Gap them to .032 and you should be much better.
