Default Mod question

so i know that the 30v mods are slim to none, but i have a buddy with a 30v with a turbo as well (i know 100% its a 2.8 30v so dont ask) he said it only cost him about $800 to do himself and i may want to do this if it would open up mods for the car. Any thoughts?

034 developed a single turbo kit for the 2.7T and 2.8, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $5k. I'd be curious to hear how he pulled off a custom turbo job for less than a grand.

Probably right. Running a larger turbo at low boost, that might actually work though...

It definitely would, but there's a lot of custom fab work involved, and then you'd have to find somebody to tune it.

There's absolutely no way he did it for $800, there's a ton of custom work and new parts involved. You'd need an S4 ECU, harness, and intake manifold, along with everything else needed to make it work in addition to the obvious turbo and custom headers and downpipes. $800 wouldn't even cover the cost of a turbo unless it's used or Chinese.

Then you can only expect 300hp max before you start melting pistons, so you'd need to stay well below that if you plan on it lasting more than a year.
