True, but the ME7 ecu allows easier tuning. It's easier to swap an AEB head than to swap ME7 for ME5. The different water pump design lets you do less clearancing for a stroker motor if you want to go 2.0L, too.

Mike mis-spoke in that post, the 2001.5's actually had the k03s whereas the other A4's run a normal k03.

All good points.... It seem like you know your stuff!

I see posts like the one about VVT being a PLUS and I cringe cuz there is so much miss information on here it's crazy!

The A4 never came with a K03s, that was a transverse thing. The 2001 just got an updated K03. The extra power the 2001 made was the fact that Audi turned up the boost to make that extra 20hp. This is why all A4's make the same power when the boost level is the same.

B5 1997-2000 = 058 engine, return fuel system and narrow band 02
B5 2001-2001.5 = 06a engine, return fuel system and wide band 02
B6 2002-2004 = 06a engine, non-return fuel system and wide band 02

NDBW = Non Drive By Wire or Drive By Cable since it has a cable from the throttle pedal to the throttle body

DBW = Drive By Wire since it uses electric wires from the pedal to the throttle body.

MAF = Mass Air Flow which measures how much air is being sucked into the intake.
