There is really nothing to be affraid of. Technicians don't give a **** about chips, and most of them don't notice. The only way youd run into a problem is if your turbo crapped out and tried to get them to replace it, which is HIGHLY unlikey to happen within your warranty period. Then the service advisor might try to get the technician to prove the failure was induced by something else, maybe. You should go for it. It's not gunna hurt anything.

Thanks all for the advice and confirming that nothing was wrong with my car except that it's normal for it to be slow. Now time to look for a chip. Any advice for a chip with value/performance?

His question was answered 6 times. Threads are allowed to evolve after the original topic has been satisfied [8D]

Thanks for sticking up for me Leifer. As far as I know, my original question was answered with pretty much a "yes, your car is normally sluggish" but not 6 times. In any case, Leifer, I appreciate the gesture. Now to the evolved topic at hand; what is the best chip for price/performance for a tiptronic 1.8T?

We obviously have differing opinions on what is a valid response is to my question b/cI was expecting insightful direct responses/advice.In any case, since we are off topic already, here's anotherforum bug which I don't know if it has been addressed. Single tick marks denotingthe year such as '98,'99, '00come up as two tick marks as in"98 and I know that my keyboard works fine. The preview window even shows two tick marks when the reply box shows a single tick mark.

Lastly, here's the post you wanted me to reference for ECU chip upgrades. Hopefully it'll help someone in the future b/c this sticky is in the main A4 forum and not in the B5 forum.
