Default need advice please

So, yesterday at work the roofers delivery guy backed into my car and dented it. So, I did my thing and today I picked up a check for $2138.00 I had completely planned on using it to pay for the body work, until I realized on the way to pick up the check that I am past due on a timing belt and water pump. I decided almost instantly to deal with the dent and have all the maintenance done on my car. I was quoted $1000 by german auto center to do the timing belt/water pump. I figure then I have another $1100 to do more maintenance.

I am thinking that most people here would opt for the maintenance work over having the body repaired. With the remaining $1100, what would my best options be to keep my car reliable??

I'm wondering why you took such a low check? Its obviously more than that to fix the damage.

what do you mean?

I got the estimate from a highly respected body shop. I was given a check for the exact amount the body work would be.

Wow.. I've never seen work on a fender thats welded on, window removed/replaced, all the trim, door and trunk realignment, primer, paint, buff, and a OEM tail light cost so little... must be a good body shop. Where's it at?

yeah, I was pretty surprised at the rate too. I probably should have found a more expensive place and gotten a bigger check. Oh well, its in the shop right now getting maintenance done.
