Default Need help finding parts online

Hello! Right next to where I live I have found a mechanic that has agreed to take on my car on his spare time, given that I provide him with the parts. He only speaks french, and my french is -really- bad, so I turn to you for help!

My car is a 1998 Audi A4 B5.

1. Most importantly, I need to change the timing belt for the engine. Even though it's over 6 years since last time, and about 65000km.

2. I suspect that the wind wiper engine might be busted, because if I use the wind wipers at a high speed setting when driving fast on the highway, they suddenly "lock", only to start working again after lets say 10 sec.

The third part that I need help finding is a bit tricky to explain. A few weeks ago, the car was involved in an accident where it bumped into a car in front. Seemingly only the license plate was damaged, but right after we saw a steady stream of wind wiper fluid coming leaking out of the car. When we tried the windshield wipers the thingy for cleaning the headlights flew off, obviously because of some pressure there. My local mechanic pointed at the nossle under the thingy cleaning the headlights, saying that this had to be replaced. Because this was broke, the windshield wiper fluid pressure made it leak out.

3. So, I need to change the nossle, valve thing the headlight wiper device is attached to, because it's broke, making windshield wiper fluid leak out.

By now you might have guessed that I know nothing about cars, and your absolutely right!

I would be very grateful if someone could point me to some good ebay-links regarding the spare parts mentioned in 1,2 and 3.

Cheers!

- Terje

Regarding your windshielf wiper motor. You should try this fix, before you buy a new motor.

Here is another, DIY for repairing the windshield wiper, if this is the problem your having with your wipers, of coarse.

I'm not sure about this nossle, you are referring too but do you mean you need to replace the headlight washer pump?

Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T Search SiteSearch 3B7955681 ES#341781 Headlight Washer Pump - 3B7955681

or the Headlight Washer Jet Assembly?

Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T Search SiteSearch Headlight Washer ES#5790 Headlight Washer Jet Assembly - Priced Each - 8D0955101

Its either one of the two i would assume, this is of coarse a guess without seeing a picture of the part that your mechanic, says needs to be replaced.

morpheus: it's a 1.6L engine actually ... How can I find out more? Perhaps some serial number is written on the engine?

I'll check out the Youtube video, interesting!

About the headlight washer, I'm going to take a picture during daylight and post it here.

Thank's !!

The way to be 100% sure you get the timing belt kit for your 1998 A4 B5, provide your Vin number on Audi Parts - Vw Parts - Audi Parts Vw Parts Kit Company - Blauparts, when selecting a timing belt kit.

Call them if you prefer and give them your VIN number, because you don't want to get stuck in the middle of a timing belt job, just to discover you have the wrong, kit.

Providing your VIN number is the best way to guarantee you'll have the right kit.

morpheous (or anybody else willing to help):

To repeat, the problem after "the bump" was that nearly all the windshield wiper fluid leaked out. When I tried to use the windshield wipers, the headlight washer device (located where the tape is in the first picture) "flew off" because of too much pressure. The mechanic I talked to said that both problems was caused by the connecting point being broken (red arrow, second picture).

I found my VIN number But I can't find any place on blauparts.com to enter it? Anyhow, since I'm based in Europe, It's probably not a good idea to order it from the states, I don't know how high customs are on these things ....
