I am looking for a 2000 1.8 Quattro sport. I have looked at several and I am having a hard time finding a way to positivly identify if the car has the sport package or not. Can anybody give me info about how to tell for sure ??? Maybe somebody knows how to tell from the VIN # ?</P>

suspension shock color:
red = non-sport
black = sport

But easily - if you can stick your fist between the tire and fender then its a non-sport. Sport is usually 3 fingertip gap.<edited><editID>brrman</editID><editDate>38075.6337152778</editDate></edited>

this is incorrect...

1. The three arm steering wheel has nothing to do with sport package. I have 3 arm steering wheel and non-sport suspension (as do many people).
2. Leather seats are only related to car model, not sport option package. Except for the 2003 1.8t models, leather only came on the 2.8 model A4's (and it came stock).
3. You are looking for a 2000 A4 so look for 17" 10 spoke wheels. 16" 7 spokes came on the 1999 model.

sdaudi is correct about the wheels - they are 16" not 17" like I said above... The 2002 has the 17"s.

I should be more clear on the steering wheel:
The 3 spoke wheel does come with the sport option package, but it can also be requested as a separate option and is not something you should look for when determining if the car has sport package.

I have 10 spoke wheels, can only get 3 fingers betw tire and fender, but springs appear BLACK. Is there a way to cj=heck the VIN to know if this is SPORT option?</P>

Thanks everybody for your help! I have since bought the car I was looking for and LOVE it. In regards to the sport package here is what I have found. I have the original sticker that say it is sport package. However I have not found anyway to tell from the VIN.</P>


3 finger space betwen the tire and fender.</P>


17" 10 spoke stock rims</P>


3 spokes steering wheel.</P>


Shocks/struts are black.</P>
