Default Need tips for a better sound

Hey guys, I recently traded my silver 1999 a4 1.8tq for a brilliant yellow 1999 a4 2.8q.
The guy told me the cats need to be replaced because they have a hole or something like that. But the car sounds pretty nice and I was wondering, does anyone have a straight pipe instead of cats and the 14816 magnaflow muffler and does it sound nice?

I've heard something like it and it was horrible. Fix the cats, get a 14816, and get a 12" perf-core Vibrant resonator. You'll love it, guaranteed. Great tone, not too much drone, burble/pop on deceleration, nice and deep and toned. It's perfect.

I see no reason to run straight pipe on a 1.8t unless racecar. It sounds obnoxious for daily driving

Would it be a good idea to replace the cats with hi-flow cats like magnaflow
Or vibrant?

Lol was just gonna call that out. Chris has heard the setup I talked about - it's on my car. Awesome sound for a 2.8.

It does sound very nice. I drive a straight piped 1.8T, with a MagnaFlow muffler. I love it. Yes, it's obnoxious, but it's far quieter than previous vehicles.

So would an aftermarket hi-flow cat further improve the sound?
