Default Need your opinion regarding central locking vacuum pump

My central locking vacuum pump went bad. I opened the unit and found the graphite impeller shattered in multiple pieces.

I was looking through the ebay listing and on internet and it seems like the vacuum pumps itself look very similar.

So I was wondering whether I could buy the cheapest unit from ebay for other German cars (like MB or VW) and replace just the graphite impeller. Would that work. Does anybody know anything about the impeller sizes in these pumps? Thanks.

The exact same thing happened to me. I went to a junkyard and got just the pump and impeller unit for $4, because they didn't know what it was. I would suggest trying this first, I have heard that the VW pumps will also work, so all you need to find is a audi or vw with power locks.

Thanks. Do you remember what kind of car that was?

I got mine from a 98 Audi A4, but I think that most of the VW's have the same pump system.
