I'm looking to buy a 2001 A4 quattro with the 2.8 30v and an automatic, for just under $4000.

My previous car was a 2003 jetta tdi. Loved it. And the mileage... I did all the work, including the timing belt, the right way.

My question is...
this car has 115k miles on it, i've already come to terms that i will need to do a timing belt job. What other common problem areas are there with these cars? The automatic trans scares me. What's the reliability of those? Hows the AWD system? I hear they are superior.

I know i wont see 500k miles out of it, like the TDI. But should i be able to see at least 200k - 300k without much issue? I stay on top of maintenance. And NEVER go to the dealer. Audi is just a whole new beast to me.
