So we had a B5 at the shop with no power to the windows, locks or interior lights. Car started and ran. Swapped out the locking pump with a good unit and voila, everything started working again. Corrosion in the small black connector and a burnt circuit board.

Went and picked up the Audi today. Everything is good! All electronics work after programming the new CLP. Only problem now is the windows go down and but won't go up🤣 so I'll be tearing the doors apart to get that fixed. Along with the other rutein maintenance tomorrow. If you have any ideas how to fix the window let me know just in case I can not do it myself. I really appreciate all the input and help. It really made it easy to get the issues resolved.

Is it just one window that is not going up? It is most likely the clip that is broken. The clip holds the wire that has a **** on the end like a bike’s brake cable in it. One for up and one for down. The one for up is broken it sounds like. You can buy them off eBay I believe. I think these are them.

It is the driver and passenger front windows that do not go up. I looked at both and as you stated the the left side guide clips will not hold the cable. I was wondering though. The metal bead attached to cable. Does it need to be before or after the clips? I will be using the link you sent me to order the clips. Much appreciated.

Just make sure the clips look the same as the ones you are taking off. I‘ll check a regulator when I get home as to the orientation.

I have the new clips ordered. They will be here Saturday. An that would be awesome because I feel like there has to be something that pushes the clips up and down in order for them to work unless the grip from the clip is so firm on the cord it just moves with it. Also as a first time owner of any kind of Audi or import really. I enjoy the car.

If I remember correctly, there is a cable end for up and a cable end for down going into the same clip. One is broken off which won’t allow it to go up. In order to attach the wire you have to remove the cable from the pulley and insert the cable end into the clip. To get the cable back on the pulley there is a nifty little mechanism on the outside of the pulley. There’s an oblong protrusion smaller than the pulley. Insert your wire on that protrusion and manually move the regulator up or down and the cable will automatically rotate right into the pulley.

That helped tremendously! I got was able to get the windows going. Only issue is the passenger side goes up but it will going up a little and then stop and I have to click the window button a few times and it will go slowly again and repeat the process till it is all the way up. It does not that going down. I think it's possibly getting stuck on something going up and will be looking into it in the morning. Any suggestions? Again I appreciate all the help with this especially with me being totally new at this type of car.
