new b5er, questions about work to be done
Lol I've had my A4 long enough (and god knows I've worked on enough other Audis) to have come across a few things. But Brad was fully logical in calling out the stalk too - the combi switch design is the second-worst idea Audi had on the B5 (after the pinch bolt/spindle material selection), and it easily can be that.
Bones, did you see my reply to you in the classifieds about that carbon interior trim kit you asked about?

Right after I asked the question I saw your post. Yeah he's been ripping people off here and on AZ. hoping someone who was taken will contact the FBI and get him arrested. As for reporting them, there really isn't a specific place because thankfully around here most people are pretty stand-up. Best bet is to PM one of us with info and a link to a post or thread concerning the scam and we can see if there's anything we can do to help.

i am now the proud owner of a 1998 a4 2.8
. while it has a lot of work to be done to it and hopefully all with help from you guys i am looking forward to it.
seeing as i am a poor(not really) college student theres no need to say that most of the work will be done by me. so i guess ill get this started
- turn signals and cruise dont work hazards do, odd not sure why
- ignition switch is out (replacing tomorrow) (done)
-needs new windshield
- i kind of hear a tick when i accelarate
- for some reason dipstick was missing one is ordered and on the way
- valve cover gaskets need replaced (done)
-abs and brake light come on after highway speeds for awhile
- whenever i first start the car and start driving and come to my first stop feels like the brakes give way then kick back at me but brakes are still good
- got the p1545 code and p1600 i believe have to look again. but no problem idling or starting
- hooked it up to and obd tool and the absolute throttle position is hovering around 3%, shouldnt it be at 0 when not on gas or am i wrong? what could be the problem
thats all i can think of for now im hoping that the turn signal problem could be the ignition switch? am i wrong
and the tires were really really bad could that have made abs go off? sorry if i sound stupid with that question, learning experience lol
pics soon

i think i remember this swell. Their point was the cruise control takes the speed readings from the abs wheel sensors. so the whole abs system would have to work for cruise to work. I can't confirm this I do remember what vgo is saying. But to help this, when i first got my a4 the abs didn't work and the cruise didn't seem to work. But i fixed the abs and my cruise works. I'm not saying they go hand in hand but thinking back this might be the reason.
