Default New clutch?

I have a stock 2000 a4 1.8t. Its a manual and my stock clutch is beggining to slip. So i figure now is a good time to get a nice clutch. i have a few questions tho.

1. I want like a stage 1 or a stage 2 clutch, but idk how they will handle in a stock car

2. If i replace the clutch do i need any other parts, like a new flywheel?

3. i plan on doing the work myself so i dont have to worry about labor. but i still want to get a good deal. so if you guys know and good relatively cheap clutches thatd be awesome!

For a stage 1 or 2 I would suggest ecs tuning, http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...etrain/Clutch/

1) your car with a stage 1 or 2 from ecs will be fine on stock, in fact better, their clutches are paired with lightweight flywheels which will give you a bit of a boost in 1st as we'll as the car revving faster.

2) you have 2 options, buy the full stage 1 or 2 kit with the flywheel or buy the kit without the flywheel and re machine your old dual mass flywheel. (saves money)

3) stage 1 with flywheel at ecs is $600 with stage 2 at $800 or you can buy the kit without the flywheel, stage 1 $330 and stage 2 $470

If you plan on keeping you car stock, then go with stage 1.

I'm currently using a stage 1 kit, with the car tuned, it is great I recommend it to all.

Talk to Mike Hood at Ringer Racing. He will steer you right and has great prices. He's taken care of many AF members in the past and you'll be in good hands.

Given the power goals, that was my recommendation as well. In the other thread where you asked this question..

Nice clutch if people don't mind the annoying gear rattle that paper thin flywheel will have. Their steel flywheel is also cast not billet.

Jay.duncs - If you need a clutch or clutch flywheel kit feel free to contact me.

i recommend it because i think its a great kit, i.e. no gear rattle from me. and the flywheel has held up just fine

Odd seeing that nearly all of the other people running that 12 lbs steel flywheel or the even lighter aluminum one complain about gear rattle, there are A4 1.8t owners that complain about gear rattle with the CM 15lbs billet steel flywheel , I know people that complain about gear rattle with flywheels that are heavier at 17 lbs and a good amount of MK6 owners complain about gear rattle with the CM 18 lbs billet steel flywheel on their cars.

I got plenty of gear rattle with a 14 lbs Aasco aluminum flywheel and also with the 15 lbs Spec steel flywheel on my own A4. But hey that is just my 10 or so years of actual experience dealing with light weight single mass flywheels on the A4 1.8t.

I get gear rattle with my 19lb steel wheel, but it doesn't bug me. I read a few threads where that flywheel was shattering but they were all very old and that all seems to have been resolved now.

you right it is odd. But it works just perfect for me. So that's why I recommend it. Not to mention the attractive price
