Hi all im new here after purchasing my first a4 1996

I have a problem on initial start off the engine there is a slight jumpy idle and there is a rattle coming from beneath the bonnet.

After 20-30 seconds the roughish idle will settle down and the rattle will also die down.

Any ideas please. no lights are showing on the dash

what engine? by jumpy idle you mean it goes all over the place?

 

its a 1.8 petrol, and its varies from 1000-1500 revs

 

Try to pinpoint the location of the rattle in the bay
