new owner.. pic and couple questions
I just picked this up as my new DD - 2001 A4qtm, sport suspension, 17's and carbon fiber interior for $3.5k. Had a pretty bad vibration which the PO was told was a flywheel problem. After buying the car and doing some research I found that it was probably a bad coil pack, and it was. Also has some damage to the right rear quarter and some deep scratches in the rim. And what sounds to be a bad wheel bearing there also, likely due to the accident. Couple questions - I can't seem to get the cupholder or lower ashtray on the console to pop out - any tricks for getting these unstuck? Also, can anyone tell me the best place to source a new 17" rim?... I'm worried that damaged one is probably bent and will eat through another wheel bearing if I don't replace it.
for the dash cupholder, you'll need to pop the trim around it off and take the whole cupholder out. then take the cupholder assembly apart. you'll find a leaf spring type thing jiggling around in there. then you'll see a slit at the bottom of the cupholder where the spring is supposed to be attached. it's pretty tricky but you'll figure it out. if the spring is put in right, the cupholder will come out with a push on its faceplate. the ashtray is similarly configured except it's not as easy to take out
yeah.. I think the PO hit a parking lot column or something. He also spilled coffee on everything below the cupholder.. which is why all the buttons on the right side are stuck! Also I noticed a small oil leak today which looks like it's coming from the oil cooler line.. is this a common problem? Do I just need a new hose?
